Privacy Policy

Effective July 4, 2026 · BeKaizen ("we", "us") operates the BeKaizen app and bekaizen.app.

The short version: your data exists to coach you. We don't sell it, we don't run ads on it, and we collect nothing we don't use for coaching. Here's the long version.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and password (stored as a cryptographic hash, never in plain text).
• Athlete profile: what you tell us at intake — goal and target date, baseline fitness test, training history, schedule, food preferences and allergies, height, weight, sex, date of birth.
• Daily logs: your check-ins (mood, confidence, sleep), sessions (planned and actual), fueling, soreness, notes, and your conversations with the coach.
• Apple Health data (optional, read-only): sleep, resting heart rate, and workouts — only if you connect Apple Health, only the types you approve, and revocable any time in iOS Settings.
• Support tickets: the name, email, and message you submit on this site.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and the app contains no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.

How we use it

• To run the coaching engine: compute your readiness, adapt your daily plan, set fueling targets, and track progress toward your goal.
• To generate coach conversations and meal suggestions using an AI model (see below).
• To answer your support requests.
• To keep the service safe — for example, detecting messages that indicate a crisis so we can surface professional resources.

We never use your data for advertising, and we never sell it. Health data from Apple Health is additionally governed by Apple's rules: it is never used for marketing, advertising, or data mining, and is never disclosed to third parties for those purposes.

AI processing

The coach's replies and meal compositions are generated by Anthropic's Claude models via API. Relevant parts of your athlete state (recent logs, today's plan, your message) are sent to that API to produce a reply. Under the API terms we operate on, this data is not used to train AI models. All coaching decisions with numbers behind them — training limits, safety thresholds, fueling ranges — are computed by our own deterministic code, not by the AI.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with Supabase (managed Postgres) and protected by row-level security — your records are readable by your account and our service alone. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Support tickets are stored in the same infrastructure.

Sharing

We share data only with the processors needed to run the service: Supabase (storage and authentication), Anthropic (AI processing, as described above), and Apple (app distribution and, if you enable it, Health data on your device). No data brokers, no advertisers, no "partners."

Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Ask us to delete your account from the email on the account and we'll erase everything — profile, logs, plans, conversations — within 30 days and confirm in writing. Disconnecting Apple Health stops new health data immediately; previously synced values can be deleted on request with the rest.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it at any time via a support ticket. If you're in a jurisdiction with specific data-protection rights (GDPR and similar), those rights apply and we honor them.

Children

BeKaizen is for athletes 16 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect — plainly, not buried in a changelog.
